An international law firm is seeking a Global Manager of Events for their New York or Los Angeles office.
Responsibilities:
Plan the firm’s client-facing seminars, client development and significant social events, as well as the annual Partners’ Meeting, and alumni outreach events.
Report to the Managing Director of Communications & Marketing.
Manage all aspects of Business Development events, client seminars, relationship event, and programs on a regional, national and international basis, and all aspects of the Firm’s annual Partners’ Meeting;
Work closely with partners and business development team to conceptualize the strategy and plan, and source ideas and venues for client development events;
Prepare, monitor and control annual and specific event-related budgets;
Negotiate necessary contracts and cultivate vendor relationships;
Work with marketing systems to create and organize all event materials;
Partner with Conference Center and/or Caterer and IT to manage logistics including catering/menu selections, booking of appropriate rooms/layout, day-of staff assistance, Audio Visual set-up, etc.;
Organize events in conjunction with sponsorship’s and outside organizations;
Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate team member(s);
Work beyond scheduled hours as necessary, especially to attend meetings, events, and functions, which may include weekend hours;
Travel as required and handle additional Business Development and event-planning projects as directed; Understand and use internal marketing and business development systems and processes;
Managing the firm’s Event Calendar and other Events Department tools and processes; Conduct training as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree; At least 7 years of years in event planning required;
Expert-level proficiency in developing, planning, executing and evaluating client events;
Fundamental-level proficiency in budgeting and expense management;
Advanced knowledge of marketing principles, procedures, concepts and practical applications; Fundamental knowledge of CRM systems (e.g.: InterAction; Tikit);
Advanced-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; and Advanced proficiency in English language usage, including punctuation, spelling, grammar, and writing skills.
