Top law firm is seeking a Marketing and Business Development Specialist.
Major Responsibilities:
responsible for supporting various business development and marketing projects, including client targeting, business research, pitch and proposal creation and planning events. The Marketing and Business Development Specialist will work closely with the Senior Business Development Manager in supporting all activities of the firm’s intellectual property, privacy, advertising, aviation, and trusts and estates practices, along with providing support for the client team initiative. The position maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Events
•Work independently and with other members of the Marketing and Business Development Department to coordinate all (internal and external) logistics for practice conferences, seminars (live and webcast) and receptions as well as some local functions. This includes venue selection and coordination, material/handout production, AV needs and other considerations.
•Process and submit necessary paperwork to external organization as well as internal accounting departments for check processing.
•Draft preliminary description of event for internal and external communications; draft event budget and track costs against budget.
•Maintain calendaring of events and related deadlines.
•Assist with research as needed for vetting potential opportunities to identify those of value.
Marketing and Business Development
•Assist with identifying business/client development opportunities, client educational programs, sponsorship opportunities, etc. in support of designated practice areas and geographies; work with appropriate Marketing and Business Development colleagues to pursue.
•Coordinate preparation of pitch materials for current and prospective clients, including printed, bound materials, proposals, RFP responses, PowerPoint presentations, etc
•In coordination with the Senior Business Development Manager, coordinate and track progress with identified business development targets, and against practice-specific marketing and business development plans.
•Develop relationships with target industry associations (as identified in the practice branding plan) to identify leadership/advisory board positions, speaking and conference presentation opportunities and sources of referral for the practice.
•Manage internal and external logistics for practice hosted and attended conferences, seminars (both live and via webcast) and receptions, as well as local functions for other practices and office functions, as necessary. Provide hands-on support and follow through on business development leads following efforts.
•Research opportunities for external seminars/conferences where practice capabilities can be featured.
•Draft, edit and proof marketing collateral materials, including slide decks, letters, event invitations, proposal documents, and lawyer biographies.
•Liaise with attorneys in support of the creation and maintenance of practice marketing content and contact lists in the firm’s client relationship management (CRM) databas
•Prepare and deliver detailed competitive intelligence and marketing research reports leveraging firm-wide research tools and library resources. This may also include development of qualified prospect lists for certain marketing/client development initiatives, as well as background on competitors and prospective clients for business development purposes.
•Leverage marketing technology tools such as InterAction and other knowledge management resources to support prospect identification and internal information sharing

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred and five to six years of marketing/event experience, preferably in a legal or professional services firm; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Must have excellent organizational and written skills, strong verbal communication skills, a high level of attention to detail and the capacity to work comfortably in a rapidly changing environment on multiple, ongoing projects.
•Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy are a must. Must be able to efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff and outside vendors and contacts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database management. Knowledge of InterAction and/or experience maintaining a Website is a plus.
•Must be a dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment. Must also be able to work well independently, manage projects and maintain communications with various constituencies.
•Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer, laser printer, telephone, photocopier, scanner, calculator, facsimile, etc. are required.
•Ability to occasionally retrieve and distribute marketing/desktop publishing materials, written documentation, or office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
