Job Description:

The Director, Conflicts is responsible for overseeing conflicts operations and personnel firmwide. This person will work closely with the Managing Director, Senior Managers, members of the OGC and others to ensure the department is structured and staffed appropriately to provide timely and accurate completion of conflict checks. This person will have experience leading a multi-office team and resolving complex conflicts and ethics issues in regards to both lateral and new business conflicts checks.


In this capacity, the Director, Conflicts will:


* Lead and manage conflicts analysis and clearance functions, operations, and personnel;

* Assist leadership with review and analysis of key conflicts issues;

* Design and implement policies and procedures to streamline, enhance and expedite processes;

* Analyze workflow trends and recommend changes/additions to staff as needed;

* Work with the training supervisor and managers to design and implement training and continuing education for all conflicts staff;

* Participate in training of non-conflicts legal and non-legal staff regarding conflicts policies and procedures;

* In coordination with leadership and the senior managers advise on hiring, terminations, performance reviews and personnel decisions;

* Maintain knowledge of trends, developments and new technologies impacting the conflicts group;

* Work with other verticals in the department such as new business intake, ethics walls, data and special projects to cross train staff as needed and provide a seamless conflict and matter opening process during the life cycle of a matter;

* Act as a change agent to identify performance and process gaps and work with the Managing Director and other stakeholders to develop innovative solutions;

* Provide strategic analysis and recommendations as well as data and other reporting;

* Handle additional related projects as necessary; and

* Work beyond scheduled hours as required.


Job Requirements:


Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree (required);

* At least 15 years of conflicts experience at a professional services firm (required);

* At least 5 years of management experience in a global law firm setting or relevant industry setting (preferred); and

* At least 5 years of experience in a strategic role (preferred).


Proficiencies:

* Experience with Intapp Open;

* Expert knowledge of conflict-of-interest checking procedures and guidelines; and

* Advanced knowledge of corporate-related reference sources such as Dun & Bradstreet products, Lexis Nexis, Capital IQ, etc.
