Head of Finance
Job Description:
The head of finance is responsible for leading all financial operations. The role will oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, client and matter profitability, partner compensation and financial risk management ensuring the unit’s financial health while aligning with the strategic goals of the practice.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and manage the business unit’s annual operating budget
· Prepare and analyze financial reports for monthly partner meetings
· Manage client’s funds account
· Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the unit including balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow, WIP, AR aging and realization reports
· Monitor matter and client profitability and recommend changes to pricing and staffing models
· Implement internal controls, accounting policies and procedures for the unit
· Direct the monthly and year end close, working with external accountants and auditors as needed and ensure compliance and tax requirements
· Collaborate with business unit and department heads on strategic planning including hiring, technology investments and any other items that are needed to support the business unit
· Provide clear financial dashboards and KPI’s to the Partner
· Manage relationships with clients, banks, lenders and other financial institutions
· Identify and manage financial risks related to market cycles in the business unit
· Responsible for monthly, year end and ad hoc financial reports
· Interact with partners on financial, billing, collection and administrative issues
· Provide analysis to unit used for partner compensation decisions
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting/ MBA a plus
· 15 years Law Firm/Professional Services/experience
