Job Description:
Primary Job Functions
* Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with firm leadership to develop and implement business development plans aligned with the firm's strategic goals. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and inform strategy. Guide partners and practice groups in the creation of actionable client development plans.
* Client Development and Relationship Management: Lead efforts to strengthen client relationships through tailored initiatives, events, and outreach. Identify cross-selling opportunities across practice areas and geographies. Lead efforts to strengthen existing, and identify and support development of relationships with additional, referral sources. Work closely with attorneys to support engagement with referral sources and business generation from existing clients and new prospects.
* Marketing Positioning and Thought Leadership: Collaborate with the team to build the firm's visibility in key markets through events, sponsorships, and campaigns. Identify opportunities for attorneys to participate in speaking engagements, panels, and publications. Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for the firm to position itself as a leader. Leverage the firm's PR consultant in these endeavors.
* Marketing Communications/Web/Social Media: Lead and/or manage BD Team in the preparation of submissions for key directory rankings and awards. Oversee firm's use of social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.). Maintain and update the firm's website.
* Marketing Technology: Lead the selection and implementation of a firm CRM system. Lead training of lawyers and staff and develop best practices and ensure successful adaptation of the CRM system.
* Events and Sponsorships: Lead all logistics for practice-specific events, speaking engagements, seminars and webinars. Work with BD team and assist with all aspects of BD events and sponsorships by managing invitation lists, invitation design, event material preparation, reminders and follow-up communications.
* Market knowledge: Stay abreast of trends in the legal BD/marketing industry. Identify initiatives and opportunities that may work for the firm and present those to the BD Partner and/or COO for consideration and discussion.
* Proposal and Pitch Management: Oversee the preparation of customized pitches and presentations for key client opportunities. Develop and manage content for capability statements and business development collateral. Ensure consistent messaging and high-quality deliverables.
* Content Management: Ensure practice group descriptions, representative client and matter lists, and other materials are up to date. Work with BD team to articulate brand messaging into firm content.
* Budgeting: Maintain annual budget for BD department, including preparation and analysis of annual budget (with CSO) and management of day-to-day BD and related expenses (with BD Specialist).
* Team Leadership and Collaboration: Manage and mentor junior BD team members, fostering their professional growth. Act as a liaison between attorneys, practice groups, and BD. Ensure cross-functional collaboration to align efforts across the firm.

* Ability to write effectively, concisely and persuasively.
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree Required.
* Law firm experience required; should have minimum of 10 years of business development, marketing or related experience. Should have experience successfully managing and developing junior team member(s).
