Job Description:


We seek a T&E Paralegal to support a large, high-profile mass tort case. The successful incumbent will:

Duties / Responsibilities:

• All facets of trust and probate administration.

• Communicate with trustees, family members and beneficiaries.

• Provide accurate information to clients in a timely manner.

• Consistently, immediately and thoroughly document communications with clients.

• Prepare applications and forms accurately; Able to Quality Control same.

• Read and interpret Wills and Trust Instruments.

• Prepare and file all documents required to probate Wills.

• Liaise with Surrogate’s Courts in New York and actively follow up on probate/administration

proceedings, including visiting the Surrogate’s Court to confer with clerks.

• Independently research and work with third-party vendors to retrieve estate files from various courts.

• Collect information necessary to complete reporting and filing requirements.

• Prepare Will Fact Sheets / Probate Petitions for probate with Surrogate’s Court

• Prepare Notice of Probate, Certifications of Mailing and Probate Summary Letters.

• Respond to clerk slip letters and requests for supplemental documents for probate/administration

proceedings.

• Prepare receipt and release agreements, disclaimers, affidavits, accounting petitions, and handle issuance

and revocation of letters and other miscellaneous proceedings.

• Prepare petitions and oversee service on interested parties.

• Assist and prepare federal and state estate/inheritance tax returns as necessary.

• Prepare internal memos regarding distributions to estate beneficiaries by reviewing

probate/administration documents and following up to obtain more information where necessary.

• Record billable time daily.


Job Requirements:

Qualifications / Experience:

• Four to six years’ experience in Trusts & Estates, including probate practice.

• Notary Public or willingness to quickly become a Notary Public.

• Ability to file with State, Federal and Surrogate’s Courts or willingness to quickly learn.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong references

• Manage deadlines.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite; Strong Excel skills required.

• Experience in Adobe Reader (combining / assembling documents).

• Be efficient and reliable.

• Able to deliver a high standard of customer service in a fast-paced environment.

• Able to communicate effectively with attorneys, staff, and team members regarding commitments,

deadlines, challenges, requests, etc.
