The firm is seeking a Client Relations Manager in our New York City office who, as part of the firm’s Client Relations team, will be responsible for the direction and management of select firmwide litigation practices and the New York and Washington, DC regional business development, client entertainment and community relations efforts. This is a full-time, firmwide exempt position with excellent benefits. The region is a critical key strategic market of the firm thus the role will require someone with a solid understanding of the market and the litigation and regulatory space. This position is also a highly collaborative one in which the manager will work closely with other Client Relations Managers to leverage opportunities for the Northeast Regional-based lawyers in other geographies / verticals and likewise leverages opportunities for firm wide lawyers into the region. It is a position in which the manager will have an active role in working with the Client Relations team of 45 members across 7 of the offices and alongside recruitment firm wide.

Responsibilities

Business Development

-Provide strategy and implementation support to marketing efforts for the firm into the market and extend regional relationships across the firm.
-Development of and assistance with business development plans for client teams, cross-sell strategy and client interview meetings.
-Identify targets and provide relevant research and strategic ideas to acquire new business.
-Responsible for the orientation and transition of lateral partner hires, including the creation of a marketing plan.
-Support marketing and business development efforts of firm wide industry focuses.
-Lead discussions though the regional Client Development Committee to facilitate business development strategy.
-Liaise and collaborate with other Client Relations staff on department and industry projects, events, requests for proposals and presentations, media relations, internal communication and lawyer training.

Marketing & Brand Awareness

-Analyze the firm’s marketing position, as well as monitor the competition.
-Initiate and manage large client entertainment/business development events; client CLEs and seminars; and various sporting, arts, and theater events.
-Manage the office’s community relations and charitable giving programs: including budget creation and management, lawyer board involvement and documentation of all requests submitted to the firm.
-Work with the firm’s Communication Department to create collateral materials and content for the firm Web site, brochures and other marketing pieces.
-Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree required, candidate should have 5+ years of marketing or related experience, preferably within a professional services environment and ideally within a large law firm.
-Solid understanding of the law firm environment and of lawyers’ responsibilities and work ethic is important.
-Candidate must have strong skills in written/verbal communication and be able to work well with lawyers, other professionals and staff within the firm. Ideal candidate will possess diplomacy, enthusiasm, perseverance and a sense of humor.
-Candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a high-level of organizational and prioritization skills, as well as flexibility to work occasional overtime.
-Candidate should possess strong skills in MS Office; experience with InterAction, Adobe Acrobat, Foundation and Vuture a plus; knowledge of web-based legal and business resources, such as Lexis-Nexis, Hoover’s, LivEdgar, WestLaw and others, also a plus.
