Job Description:
Essential Functions
Working closely with the BD Associate Director and other BD members from the Litigation, Transactional, Restructuring and Analysis teams, the BD Specialist will:
Collaborate on and prepare pitch materials, RFP responses, and prep outlines for the covered practice groups and partners, as well as cross-practice groups
Work closely with senior and junior team members as well as partners, counsel and associates to complete numerous directory submissions (Chambers, Legal 500, etc.) and coordinate with Content Team on awards submissions
Develop and maintain standard marketing literature and experience for covered practice groups
Collaborate and execute on the team's matter management and matter intelligence processes working closely with BD Associate Director and other team members
Update and maintain partner bios, experience lists, target lists and other materials used as part of one-to-one partner coverage model
Collaborate and execute on the planning, coordination and implementation of client events, as needed
Work with the firm's event professionals and other members of the firm to evaluate and coordinate speaking opportunities, conference and industry event sponsorships and other visibility-raising opportunities
Conduct market and competitor research in an effort to identify client prospects and new business opportunities for covered practice groups and partners
Monitor and report on client development activities in an effort to identify opportunities for strengthening external relationships
Collaborate with firm's Competitive Intelligence Group to obtain detailed research reports in support of pitch preparation materials, client prospecting and industry group initiatives
Support firm-wide cross-selling initiatives and strategic priorities
Occasional weekend and after-hours work is required
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of five years of experience in a business development or client development role in professional services, with at least two years of litigation legal marketing experience
A thorough understanding of litigation terminology, court systems, docket tools, stages of litigation, and marketing to litigation clients is required
A genuine curiosity and interest in the business of litigation is beneficial
Required Skills
Excellent writing, reading and comprehension skills with a demonstrated understanding of litigation
Excellent interpersonal skills (Written, Verbal & Presentation)
Highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization
Ability to concisely synthesize complex information and data into actionable items
Ability to work independently and as a high-functioning member of a team in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, multiple projects and deadlines
Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information and facts to provide brief yet detailed company profiles, industry overviews, biographical summaries, and analyze key matters, industry trends and competitive analysis
Understanding of the pressures of working in a corporate environment and demonstrated potential for working well with attorneys who have a wide range of business development goals and marketing skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities to meet time-sensitive deadlines, as well as handle multiple projects simultaneously, including confidential matters.
Resourceful, driven attitude with a desire and energy to use a ``whatever it takes'' approach to ensure team success.
Technical Skills
Highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience working in legal knowledge management platforms and CRM systems
Experience with business, litigation and corporate intelligence platforms (Bloomberg Law, Lex Machina, etc.) preferred
Experience with legal-focused AI tools a plus
