Seeking a Business Development Coordinator (Corporate) for a large prestigious international law firm.

Our Client’s business development department is comprised of more than 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the firm’s overall business development, marketing and communications function. Our international team provides seamless service to some of the brightest minds in the legal industry, with an emphasis on quality, innovation and responsiveness. The New York office is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to join the firmwide team that supports the Firm’s corporate practices (M&A/Private Equity, Debt Finance, Capital Markets, among others) to help drive new business objectives. This position reports directly to the Director of Business Development in New York and will collaborate closely with other dedicated team members across the Firm and interact regularly with the Firm’s attorneys.

​This candidate will support the day-to-day functions of the growing New York corporate practice. Responsibilities include drafting, maintaining and refining marketing materials, including pitches, practice descriptions, responses to RFPs, attorney biographies and substantive presentations; conducting market and deal research; tracking industry/client trends; collaborating on bespoke practice-specific initiatives/projects and general practice support.

Essential Functions:

Collaborate with the Director and other team members on the development and execution of meaningful strategic business development and marketing initiatives;

Manage and review market, industry and client research for business development initiatives and pitch preparation;

Draft, edit and maintain effective, compelling, and consistent written materials for use in the firm’s marketing and business development initiatives, including attorney biographies, practice descriptions and experience lists;

Coordinate and execute the pitch production process from the point of opportunity through to completion, including drafting key sections to tailor proposals/pitches to specific prospects/industries/sectors;

Track and capture results, analyze the results, and develop best practices for future opportunities based on the analyses;

Contribute and assist in the development and population of Firmwide transactions and matters databases;

Handle other requests or projects on an as needed basis;

Provide support to other members of the department as necessary;

The ideal candidate will be familiar with public company and private equity M&A transactions, including financing and will be able to distinguish among various types of transactions as well as have the ability to distill complex deal information into a succinct, digestible format. He/she will have a solid command of a number of different software applications to produce high-end, professional work product, including the Microsoft Office Suite (proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel are required) and experience with various market intelligence platforms, including but not limited to Bloomberg, Capital IQ, ThomsonOne, Pitchbook, LPC, Preqin, Manzama, The Deal Pipeline, and Corporate Affiliations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong organization and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, staff and guests of the Firm are a must. You should be able to work independently while making intelligent, informed decisions. The firm demands quality work from every employee (often in high-pressure and deadline-driven scenarios) so you need to be able to multi-task and prioritize effectively. A history of taking initiative is essential to success in this position.

You must have strong project management skills, exceptional business acumen, and a strong ability to identify and understand marketplace trends. You will be required to handle ambiguity, influence others and find ways to move initiatives forward to meet critical deadlines and produce results. The position demands meticulous writing and proofing skills, and you need to possess a general facility for learning new software.

A Bachelor’s degree is required and an ideal candidate will have at least three years’ professional experience and a background in M&A/private equity are preferred. Law firm, corporate finance, research analyst and investment banking experience are a plus.

Technologies/Software:

Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint. Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel is required. Experience with various market intelligence platforms, including but not limited to Bloomberg, Capital IQ, ThomsonOne, Pitchbook, LPC, Preqin, Manzama, The Deal Pipeline, and Corporate Affiliations is required. CRM/Database Software (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, ContentPilot, etc.) experience is a plus.
