​Our client is seeking a Specialist to support the Business Intelligence (BI) efforts of the Firm, as part of the Marketing & Business Development Department. This position reports to the Transactional BI Manager, with additional oversight by the BI Specialist and Business Development Director in New York. The BI group operates alongside more than 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the firm’s overall business development, marketing and communications function. This international team provides seamless service to some of the brightest minds in the legal industry, with an emphasis on quality, innovation and responsiveness.

Business Intelligence is one of the fastest-growing areas in the Firm, and deals with the lifeblood of strategic decision making: data. Pairing information with insight, the team equips partners with vital knowledge and drives new business initiatives forward. In this role, you will be a key member of the BI team, mining a variety of resources to create intelligence briefings, compiling competitive metrics, and managing high-level cross-marketing and targeting projects. General industry and/or practice-based research projects may also be assigned as needed. A successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of the elements of an M&A transaction and the ability to distinguish between various types of deals. You must have strong analytical and communication skills, and be able to convey complex information simply and concisely. Attention to detail is imperative.

​ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Gather data from various sources/databases to compile a variety of intelligence briefings, including (but not limited to): company/private equity firm profiles, relationship intelligence documents, biographical dossiers; Lead high-level research and targeting projects for the corporate practice group and/or New York office; Monitor alerts and news flow to support proactive BI team initiatives; Conduct competitive intelligence and benchmarking research within an industry or among peer firms; Maintain best practices with regard to data collection and mining, including internal database audits and updates;

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

Manage additional research and organizational functions as assigned by management; Assist with various marketing initiatives that intersect with other functional areas within the marketing context; A Bachelor’s degree and more than five years’ experience in the workforce is required in either a law firm, finance or investment banking environment; Excellent client service orientation and listening skills, with comfort interacting with key Business Development and senior Firm personnel; Proven ability to organize and manage a diverse range of projects, prioritizing multiple tasks with competing deadlines (at times in high-pressure situations); Meticulous methods of information acquisition, compilation, and communication (including the use of online information databases, tools and resources); attention to detail is imperative;
Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate meaningful team and stakeholder relationships. Diplomacy, intellectual curiosity and a positive attitude/sense of humor is preferred.

Technologies/Software:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, particularly an expertise with Excel, PowerPoint and Word, is required. Experience with Adobe and SharePoint are preferred.
