Job Description:

This position will closely partner with the Director of Accounting and Finance in managing the functions of: General Accounting, Client Billing, Accounts Payable, Client Receipts, Client Trust Accounts and Partner Accounting/Compensation. This role will be expected to independently and proactively identify and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Capable of hands-on execution of duties related to these functions. The Accounting Manager oversees staff within the functional areas, provides overall supervision, coaching, and performance management.


PRIMARY:


· Oversees and manages the day-to-day Accounts Payable, Client Receipts and Client Trust transactions.

· Collaborate with the Senior Staff Accountant to ensure accurate GL management, and timely monthly reconciliation of bank and balance sheet accounts.

· Prepares and reviews various general ledger monthly journals, reviews coding of expenses and recommends appropriate corrections.

· Accountable for the completion of all Partner Compensation, including partner draw payments and distributions.

· Generates and distributes periodic statistical and financial reports to accounting and firm management. Ensures timely and accurate reporting of daily cash position.

· Manages and supervises staff members to ensure accounting procedures, policies, and internal controls are maintained and followed.

· Assists with the annual audits and compilation of financial statements by outside accountants.

· Regularly interacts with bank representatives regarding banking transactions and online banking issues.

· Assist with accounting initiatives and/or manages projects that involve operational effectiveness/efficiency within the functional areas. This will include the implementation of several technological modules including: paperless billing and a collections module.

· Implements best practices, and ensures proper documentation and training is provided for new policies and procedures.

· Provides informal and formal evaluation and feedback to staff, including preparation of annual performance reviews.

· Partner with Director of Finance to enhance the current operations of the Billing Team. This will include but is not limited to: standardizing processes, documenting workflows and department policies, building Partner Profiles, data clean-up and overall change management.

· Work closely with the Billing Supervisor to oversee and manage the daily operations of the billing department, including matter maintenance and collections.





Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher with a concentration in accounting, finance, or related field.


Experience: Professional with at least 7 years of experience within legal accounting.
