Job Description:

Responsibilities include:

1. Lead our core Legal Personnel processes and programs

a) Act as primary contact for all legal personnel policies

b) Oversee the maintenance of counsel and associate salaries and bonuses

c) Manage all activities relating to lawyer leaves of absence

d) Serve as internal PD liaison when surveys are conducted and when policy changes are made

e) Oversee all work authorization and employment verification activity

f) Oversee and manage all aspects of new lawyer orientation, on-boarding, transitions and off-boarding.

g) Manage all aspects of the part-time program for lawyers

2. Lead the global attorney review process

a) Partner with the firm’s Evaluation Committee, practice group chairs and Professional Development team to oversee all aspects of the global review process

b) Participate in all Evaluation Committee meetings

c) Prepare draft ranking and performance messages

d) Organize and disseminate review materials for discussion by partners

3. Data management and reporting

a) Track and communicate information on lawyer arrivals, departures, leaves of absence, transfers, promotions, headcount, immigration, name and other changes of status

b) Oversee the global entry of data into our Workday HR database

c) Co-ordinate with other departments to ensure that data is feeding correctly into the website, picture book and benefits database

d) Partner with the technology team and others on initiatives to improve and standardize data collection and efficiency; create, revise and run reports; field miscellaneous questions from lawyers regarding their listings in the database, vacation accrual and other matters.

4. Enhance our infrastructure

a) Identify and implement opportunities to automate and enhance our core legal personnel processes

b) Partner with other areas (HR, Benefits, Finance) to implement enhancements that cut across functions

5. Contribute to the broader Professional Development agenda

a) Seek opportunities to contribute to other initiatives within our Professional Development agenda



Job Requirements:

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of professional development and/or human resources experience in a law firm environment
  • Highly organized; capable of managing concurrent work streams with independence and efficiency
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to communicate and relate effectively with lawyers, professional staff and others at all levels
  • Ability to oversee workload across a team of legal personnel professionals
  • Superior written communication skills
  • Proven ability to analyze and report statistical information
  • Proven ability to develop and implement programs and initiatives
  • Graduate degree in business or HR-related field preferred
  • Advanced Excel; working knowledge of viDesktop and Workday; Qualtrics a plus
