Job Description:

PARALEGAL JOB DESCRIPTION


• Maintain files and calendar, schedule meetings

• Prepare and assist with hearings and trials including subpoenaing records and/or appearances

• Draft correspondence, Motions, Legal Memorandums, scan and save all legal documents filed in the court to a Microsoft Teams cloud system

• Manage attorney calendars and monitor court appearances

• Perform online and offline research to assist attorneys in related casework

• Oversee the litigation process from the filing of the action, preparation of hearings, depositions, pre-trial investigations, trial preparations including assistance with preparation of all legal exhibits, affidavits, binders, and witnesses

• Answer office phones, schedule appointments, personally interact with numerous individuals and current clients.

• Assist attorneys with various tasks, projects, and legal documents

• Mail or Email filed documents to the client and others as required by the Certificate of Service and otherwise

• Ability to analyze technical data such as complaints, motions, orders, answers, pleadings and subpoenas



Job Requirements:

BS/BA degree or Paralegal Certificate with at least 2 years of experience as a matrimonial paralegal

DESCRIPTION OF SKILLS AND DUTIES

• Excellent skills in assembling and organizing files and documents

• Excellent time management skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent multi-tasking capabilities

• Familiarity with N.Y. State courts

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Excellent ability at legal writing and legal research

• Proficiency in Westlaw and LexisNexis

• Work on high profile, extremely confidential matters involving all aspects of Family Law, including divorce, child custody/child support, paternity, prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, post judgment, modifications and mediation

• Prepare Summons and Complaints for Action for Divorce and filing with the proper Court, including filing electronically

• Draft/prepare/revise legal documents such as Separation and Property Settlement Agreements, Prenuptial Agreements, Complaints, Civil Summons, Orders, Motions, Judgments, Subpoenas, Notices, Affidavits, Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law, Judgment of Divorce and etc.

• Draft and prepare Sworn Statements of Net Worth

• Organize, index and bates number stamp documents for production for discovery

• Prepare and organize Motions, Orders to Show Cause, and exhibits for court papers and depositions

• Draft and prepare Retainer Agreements for each type of matter arising and according to clients’ specific needs

• Maintain electronic filing systems

• Draft, word process/format Divorce Papers packet for submission and filing
