Personal Injury Attorney

Key Responsibilities

• Handle an active caseload of nursing home negligence and abuse matters in New York State and

federal courts, from case evaluation and filing through settlement.

• Litigate a smaller caseload of complex negligence matters ranging from automobile to labor law.

• Handle all phases of litigation including depositions, court appearances, and motion practice.

• Assist the Trial Department with preparation and presentation of trials.

• Participate in internal file reviews, litigation strategy meetings, and firm trainings

Requirements

• Active New York bar license in good standing

• Minimum of 7 years of plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience

• Demonstrated background in nursing home negligence and abuse litigation is required, including

familiarity with Public Health Law § 2801-d, federal and state nursing home regulations, and medical

record review

• Experience handling automobile, trip and fall, construction accident, and complex personal injury

matters involving experts.

• Ability to independently handle an active caseload from filing through resolution.

• Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and legal research skills

• Compassionate client service skills, with the sensitivity required to work with elderly clients and

grieving families

• Deposition and courtroom experience; trial experience a plus but not a requirement

Preferred Background

• Experience with wrongful death and catastrophic injury claims

• Familiarity with medical records, MDS assessments, care plans, and DOH survey and citation history

• Comfortable preparing witnesses and taking and defending depositions

• Experience opposing complex motions and handling oral arguments

• Experience working closely with paralegals and support staff

• Broader plaintiff-side personal injury experience (premises liability, medical malpractice, or similar)
