​Our client is seeking a detail-oriented specialist to support the marketing/business development efforts of the Firmwide transactional practices (M&A/Private Equity, Debt Finance and Capital Markets, among others) in our New York office.

The Transactional Specialist is responsible for the writing, coordination and execution of various business development tasks and projects including the creation/aggregation of content for client pitch materials and substantive presentations. Above average written and oral communication skills are required as the position requires drafting new content as well as compiling and editing content prepared by others. The individual in this position will direct content development and delivery, and have exceptional command of Microsoft PowerPoint to produce a high-end, professional product.

He/she will work with the attorneys, Knowledge Managers and other business development department professionals in writing and developing tailored and compelling collateral, and proposal and pitch responses for new business opportunities. The Transactional Specialist also will provide assistance in the execution of long-term projects, including the acquisition and cataloguing of content to build a solid suite of materials.

The ideal candidate must be able to verbally communicate and coordinate with high-level executives and contacts, both internally and externally, in a professional and positive manner. In addition, s/he must be willing to accept ownership of projects and be successful in driving those projects, as well as daily tasks, to an effective conclusion. This role has a strong focus on the research and analysis of press releases, news items, deal documents and information from a variety internal and external market intelligence platforms. You will need to understand the elements of an M&A transaction, be able to distinguish among various types of transactions, and have the ability to convey complex information effectively.

You will report to the Business Development (BD) Manager in the New York office, and will work closely with other transactional team members. You will also communicate and collaborate daily with the nearly 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international BD team provides seamless service to our attorneys, with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness.

•Regularly write, edit and proofread proposals and various pitch materials;
•Ensure materials are error free, visually appealing, and all aspects of the proposal/pitch materials are responsive to the client/prospective and reflective of the firm’s differentiators;
•Refine and curate core materials related to specific industries, practice descriptions and representative experience;
•Establish and maintain strong relationships with partners, business development and marketing managers;
•Work with members of the marketing and business development team, attorneys and other departments to develop strategic, client-centric proposals, tailored pitch material, and track results;
•Work with the proposal team to ensure that deadlines are met;
•Assist with content management of past and current proposals;
•Provide excellent internal client service, including responding promptly to client requests, meeting commitments and managing demanding attorney situations; and
•Provide research, coordination and other logistical assistance in connection with the origination and execution of new business pitches and related client development meetings and activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Strong organization and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, staff and guests of the Firm are a must. You should be able to work independently while making intelligent, informed decisions. The position demands meticulous data entry, writing and proofing skills, and you need to possess a general facility for learning new software. An understanding of complex M&A and finance transactions is required. A Bachelor’s degree is required. professional experience and a background in M&A/private equity are preferred and law firm, corporate finance, research analyst and investment banking experience are a plus.
