An international law firm seeks a Communications Coordinator for their NYC office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Communications Support
• Research topics and trends in legal and business media.
• Respond to media inquiries, including directing queries to senior pr team and appropriate lawyers.
• Assist in developing and pitching story ideas regarding the firm, its practices and individual lawyers.
• Draft press releases and other firm announcements.
• Conduct research and help draft briefing materials, announcements, reports and analyses.
• Cultivate relationships with key journalists in business and legal press.
• Develop targeted press lists.
• Manage projects and maintain calendar of awards schemes and other editorial submissions.
• Coordinate placement and reprint agreements for bylines/contributed content
• Provide senior communications team with support on additional projects as requested.
Social media
• Knowledge of social channels to help manage the firm’s corporate LinkedIn and Twitter profiles
• Draft text and select graphics for posts on LinkedIn and Twitter
• May assist partners with setting up their profiles

Requirements:
The ideal candidate possesses excellent written and oral communication skills with superior attention to detail. Must demonstrate responsiveness to media and internal constituencies and must possess a professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills to interact successfully with lawyers and staff at all levels. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and deadline-oriented with discretion and professional judgment to deal with sensitive matters, and possesses a willingness to work outside of normal business hours when circumstances require.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Familiarity with working with national and international media.
• Experience with online media directories.
• Ability to identify and create proactive media opportunities.
• Outstanding research skills.
• Ability to work a significant amount of overtime when needed.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel.

Preferred:
• Law firm experience a significant plus.
• Degree related to communications, media or journalism a plus.
• Familiarity with legal reporters and publications a plus.
• Familiarity with legal surveys, awards and submissions.
