An asset management firm in NY is seeking a Junior Assistant Controller.

SUMMARY:
As a key member of the accounting department, the Junior Assistant Controller is responsible for 12b-1 invoice payments and reporting, investment and separately managed account reconciliations, and assisting with month-end financial reporting of the Firm’s income statement, balance sheet and cash flows. Must have prior experience in public accounting and/or corporate accounting along with strong accounting and analytical skills. We are looking for a productive, ambitious, energetic individual with a hands-on approach, who works well in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL TASKS include the following; other duties may be assigned.
• 12b-1 invoice payments and reporting
• Daily cash and position reconciliations for our separately managed wrap program account
• Separately managed accounts reconciliations and fee calculations
• Review expense reports in Concur for accuracy and appropriateness. Maintaining T&E excel schedules.
• Assist with the month-end close which includes financial statement reporting, bank, investment and inter-company reconciliations
• Prepare and maintain expense budgets for various departments
• Provide documentation for year-end audits
• Assist team members and management as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• 4+ years of public/private accounting experience in the financial services industry preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with strong Excel skills.
• Experience using Traverse accounting software & Advent Portfolio Exchange (APX), preferred.
• Familiarity with financial reporting and consolidation process.
• Detail oriented and high level of accuracy.
• Strong communication skills. Duties often include interaction with other. employees/management within the organization and with external vendors to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
• Excellent organizational, planning and overall time management skills. Must be able to work on a variety of projects simultaneously and prioritize work.
