A top law firm is seeking a Paralegal for the Intellectual Property and Technology Litigation practice group in the New York-Battery Park office. This individual will play a key client service support role and will be responsible for performing critical tasks such as assisting lawyers and non-attorney timekeepers in the management of a docket of IP legal matters (e.g. domestic and foreign patent prosecution files), agreements, and other matters. The Paralegal reviews and summarizes reports from Docketing Department to include, domestic and foreign filing deadlines, and other IP processes and assists with preparation and filing of applications through USPTO, PAIR, and other patent-related agencies and entities, including proofreading, form preparation, and other assistance with patent prosecution processes. This position is responsible for accurate filing, recording and follow-up on domestic and foreign patent correspondence, tracking/responding to deadlines, as well as, for any associated correspondence between the firm and/or firm and its foreign associates.
Requirements:
This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent paralegal experience required;
paralegal certificate,
National Association of Legal Assistants certification or specialty certificate provided by State preferred.
Prior case clerk, paralegal, or general legal experience preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of domestic and foreign patent prosecution laws.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic technological and research skills necessary to pull requested documents from online resources required;
familiarity with legal technology and computer databases preferred.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, and present a positive, professional image with colleagues, professional staff, and vendors.
Ability to work overtime or travel, as needed, on short notice essential.
Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions.
Visual acuity needed for transcription, extensive reading and input (typing) of information into computer.
